“Veggiecation Cooking Classes - A Year Long Series!” Who : Veggiecation and Whole Foods What: The Veggiecation Program, will conduct a series of cooking demonstrations for elementary age kids at several Whole Foods Markets. Children will be invited to help prepare Veggiecation Program’s recipes, sample Veggiecation Program’s culinary creation, experience vegetables in their raw form and cast a vote on how they liked the recipe in the Veggiecation Ballot Boxes. Where: Whole Foods Markets (see "When" for specifics) Cooking demonstrations will take place in Whole Foods Market’s café. Who: New York Coalition for Health School Food What: A gala to support the work of NYCHSF, a statewide nonprofit that works to improve the health and well-being of New York's students by advocating for healthy plant-based foods, including local and organic where possible, farm to school programs, school gardens, the elimination of unhealthy competitive foods in all areas of the school (not just the cafeteria), comprehensive nutrition policy, and education to create food- and health-literate students. “Food For Thought - Food System Literacy in Classrooms, Cafeterias, and Communities”
What: This symposium is a two-day gathering of teachers, students, food service directors, sustainability coordinators, farmers, and community organizers to advance food system literacy in schools and communities around the nation. The event will provide participants with the chance to discuss specific opportunities, challenges, and solutions during facilitated workshops and presentations. Veggiecation will be presenting "Successfully Linking Classroom Lessons to Mealtime Experiences".
